Discolored Water

Hard Water

Water hardness is the amount of calcium and magnesium in the water. High levels cause scaling and low levels, called soft water, is very corrosive.
The proper range is 120ppm - 250ppm.
If your pool water is soft add the correct amount of WHAC (see back of package for correct levels). If the pool water levels are higher than 250 ppm, drain the water halfway and refill.

Testing My Water

The fastest and most accurate way to test your water is The Easy Check Pro 5 in 1 Test Strips. You can do your most important tests the same way the professionals do. Check for:
1.Total Hardness
2.Total Chlorine
3.Free Chlorine
4.PH
5.Alkalinity
Simple and easy. Dip an EZ Pro Test Strip in your pool. Compare the colors of the test strip pads to the color comparison chart. Remember to replace any unused strips back in the bottle and tighten the lid.

Foamy Water

If there is foam on the surface of the water, usually it is from either, the winter chemicals or adding too much Algaecide.
This foam is harmless and will disipate. Simply don't add any more chemicals or run filter for more then 4-6 hours a day. This foamy water will dissipate in 5-7 days. It is safe to swim while the pool water is foamy.

Minerals

Discolored water can be caused by the oxidation of excessive minerals, such as iron or copper. You should add Liquid Magnet anytime you add more than 6 inches of fresh water to your pool.
First testthe pH level and adjust if necessary. Then add 1 quart of Liquid Magnet for every 10,000 gallons of pool water. Run your filter 6 to 8 hours to circulate. Shut the filter off for 12 hours and then vacuum the pool.

How do I hook up my filter?
